Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval for use of human foetal tissues for research was obtained from the South East Scotland Research Ethics Committee (LREC08/S1101/1), NRES committee North East – Newcastle and North Tyneside 1 (08/H0906/21+5) and NRES Committee London – Fulham (18/10/0822), and written informed consent was given by the women. Ethical approval for collection and use of human prepubertal testis tissues in research was obtained from the South East Scotland Research Ethics Committee (13/SS0145) and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2016/0140). Written informed consent was obtained from patients’ parents/guardians and patients, where appropriate.For studies involving animals, ethical approval was given by the Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Board (AWERB) at the University of Edinburgh, and all procedures carried out were in accordance with UK Home Office guidelines and the Animal (Scientific procedures) Act 1986.
