: The SDPP cohort study was conducted in accordance with the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki [CitationRef removed]. All participants received written and oral information about the study and gave their informed consent before participating. During the follow-up of the cohort, there were changes in ethical and data protection regulations leading to differences in how informed consent was gathered. At baseline (year 1992–1998) and at the ten-year follow-up for men (year 2002–2004), participants consented by showing up at the clinical examinations after receiving an invitation with study information. At the ten-year follow-up for women (years 2004–2006) and at the twenty-year follow-up for men and women (years 2014–2017), all participants signed an informed consent. The study was approved by the Swedish Ethics Review Authority (2019–06531) and the Regional Ethics Review Board of Stockholm (2013/1982–31/2, 2018/2345–32).
