Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study was conducted in compliance with local and national regulations. All cat owners (or delegates) were required to sign an informed consent form prior to any cat being enrolled into the study. The study was approved, including ethical review, under the Merck Animal Health Standard Operating Procedure for market support studies. This Standard Operating Procedure does not include a systematic review by our internal Ethical Committee. For clinical studies with on-label use of an approved animal drug and written owner informed consent without further investigation as it was the case for this study, this Procedure does not require any supplementary ethical review. The approval is based on the detailed protocol showing that all animals recruited only passed a classical clinical examination and were all treated against external parasites during the whole study. There is no difference between the treatment of the cats included in the study and cat visiting the vet in a classical context. That is also why the French local regulation does not require any complementary review.
: The owners gave a written consent for their cat’s clinical details along with any identifying images to be published in this study.
: The study was funded by MSD Santé Animale, 7 Rue Olivier de Serres - Angers Technopole, Beaucouzé, France. CH and RA are current employees of MSD, AB works at ADVETIA Veterinary hospital and Alfort Veterinary School and was contracted by MSD Santé Animale to conduct the study.
