Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The necessary permission was obtained from the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), DIHAR, Leh, Ladakh UT, India for the experiments. Further, the IAEC committee has approved the taking of either written or verbal consent from all the camel farmers before the blood sampling, physiologic response, and morphometric measurement, as the experiments were not involved any treatment of drugs/feed supplementation, load endurance exercise, etc. Hence, a verbal consent was taken from all the farmers during survey and explained the procedure of blood sampling, physiological responses and body measurement and importance of this study before the sampling. All the experimental camels were obtained from Pack animal section, Animal Science Division, DRDO-Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), Leh, Ladakh UT, India and from farmer’s fields of Nubra Valley, Ladakh UT, India. All the details of camel farmers and camels identification was documented in sampling register for future reference.
