: This study was approved by the Animal Care and Use Committees, Okayama University (Permit no: OKU-2020553). The cooperative veterinarians were explained for this study, and they explained the owners of dogs and obtained samples. Collection of teeth and clinical application were carried out in accordance with the Guidelines for Animal Experiments of Okayama University. In clinical application, examination results including blood test, periodontal pocket depth, and body weight information were collected from the medical records used for dogs in daily veterinary practice. As for the collection of extracted teeth, the consent of the owners was not obtained because the existing extracted teeth were collected from other institutions. As for clinical trials, the first author directly explained to the owners and obtained their verbal consent at the institution to which the first author belongs, and the consent for clinical trials was written in the medical record. Since this process involves no invasion of humans and little invasion of dogs, it was approved by the Ethics Committee.
