: The feeding study (project nr. 69780), including procedures involving animal care, handling and sampling, was approved and overseen by the Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body at Waltham Petcare Science Institute and conducted under the authority of the UK Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986. All experiments and methods were performed in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations, and the study was carried out in compliance with the ARRIVE guidelines. The dataset from the electronic health records of dogs at Banfield® Pet Hospitals was fully anonymised by removing any client and animal details that might be personally identifiable. All dog owners gave informed consent for data to be used.
