: This study was performed according to the national and institutional guidelines on the use of animals in clinical research according to the DIRECTIVE 2010/63/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 22 September 2010 on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes and the Polish legal act concerning experiments performed on animals of January 15th 2015 (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland, 2015, item. 266). Animal Welfare Advisory Team of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine accepted research (approval no. 13/2022). Ethical review and approval from the Local Ethical Committee for the study were not necessary because the blood for all analyses was taken during a routine veterinary examination of animals admitted to the University’s Small Animal Veterinary Practice for preventive screening, and additional cardiac examination was offered to these individuals at no further cost. However, before enrolling a dog into the study, written informed consent for a full cardiac examination and blood sampling was obtained from the owner and a high standard of care was adhered to throughout each examination. The study was carried out in compliance with the ARRIVE guidelines.
