Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Informed consent from the head of household or an adult household representative was obtained by field workers. The study was approved by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology and Makerere University School of Medicine Research and Ethics Committee and by the Department of Biosciences ethics committee, Durham University. Before transects were made, informed consent from the head of household or an adult household representative was obtained by field workers. Before any larval sampling was done, verbal consent to access compounds and farms was obtained from household heads and farm owners.
