Declarations
:
: Ethical clearance was obtained from the institutional review board (IRB) of St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC). Informed consent was impractical for this study. This is in line with the Helsinki Declaration which is stated as “medical research using identifiable human material or data, physicians must normally seek consent for the collection, analysis, storage and/or reuse. There may be situations where consent would be impossible or impractical to obtain for such research or would pose a threat to the validity of the research. In such situations the research may be done only after consideration and approval of a research ethics committee [CitationRef removed]. Then, formal letter of cooperation was submitted to the study units (pediatrics department and card room) and permission was secured before data collections were initiated. Information obtained from the patient records was kept anonymous and confidentiality was maintained.
