Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study received ethics approval from the University of Edinburgh. Written informed consent was received from all research participants/ interactions but those in the drop-in sessions at the breakfast club (free food service), and women’s health support, and the craft group. Written consent here was impractical for various reasons and so oral consent was sought directly from participants and from the hosts of the groups, who also briefed the participants before the sessions and supported them in seeking further information from the researchers where they wished.
