Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Permission to undertake the research was secured from the Senate Research Committee of the University of the Western Cape, South Africa (Ref 12/10/19). The Senate Research Committee is the IRB/ethics committee responsible for development and monitoring of all university ethics policies and procedure. The reviews look into issues of accountability and quality assurance, academic freedom and responsibilities. Participation in the study was voluntary and participants were free to withdraw from the study at any time. Informed written consent was obtained from all the research participants affirming their voluntary participation and freedom to withdraw from the study at any time. Participants were assured of respect, confidentiality and anonymity by removing any identifying information, and using systematic codes to refer to respondents and their institutions.
