Due to the nature of the pandemic infection and contact restrictions in place, informed consent to perform bronchoscopy was obtained from the patient whenever it was possible to do so, from the relatives if they were at the hospital, or by telephone, and was recorded in the medical history. Patient data were recorded in the SAMIUCCOVID registry, approved by the research ethics committee.
