: All animal procedures were performed with prior consent and approval from the institutional animal ethics committee (Approval no. IICT/47/2022 and IICT/84/2022), Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India. Fresh Human cartilage samples were obtained within 36 h from OA patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty at the age of 53–76 years as a surgical waste with approval of the Human Ethics Committee, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore, India (2022–139). Cartilage samples were observed under the stereoscope. The smooth regions with no apparent lesions were separated as normal cartilage (intact), while the rough regions were separated as lesioned or damaged cartilage.
