Ethics approval and consent to participate
: All the experimental procedures were approved by the Laval University Animal care Ethics Committee (Number of the protocol 2017-063-02, approbation ID number: 114887), and are in accordance with the <i>Guide to the Care and Use of Experimental Animals</i> of the Canadian Council on Animal Care. We used brain tissue of ischemic stroke patients who died at the Stroke Unit of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. We obtained written consent from the families for tissue removal after death for diagnostic and research purposes at the Neurological Tissue bank of the Biobank-Hospital Clínic-Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS). We also obtained tissue from control subjects stored at this Biobank. The study had the approval of the Ethics Committee of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (CEIm).
