Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Before the implementation of this research, ethical approval was obtained from the Institutional Committee of the Faculty of Medicine of Eduardo Mondlane University and National Bioethical Committee for the health of the Ministry of Health (IRB00002657) and from the ethical committee of the Gent University Hospital (PA 2015/043). We also obtained authorization by the Minister of Health and local authorities at the provincial and community levels in Mozambique.The participants were interviewed at their residences. Each woman was asked to sign the informed consent form after the interviewer had explained the study objectives and procedures for the interview. Participants under 18 years were only interviewed after informed consent by a parent or guardian and their own assent. If the participant was illiterate, a fingerprint was asked.
