Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval was granted by the Health Policy and Management and Centre for Global Health Research Ethics Committee from Trinity College Dublin and by the Sierra Leone Ethics and Scientific Review Committee at The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS), Sierra Leone. Participants were informed of the study through a gatekeeper, who was part of the EAMH-SL team. Informed written consent was obtained from each participant. For some participants, due to illiteracy, consent involved the provision of a thumb print instead of signature. Enumerators signed a non-disclosure agreement and received informed consent training prior to the commencement of data collection.
