Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Split School of Medicine as part of a research grant “Professionalism in Health Care”, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (grant number IP-2014-09-7672). For the focus groups, all participants received standard information and signed a standard consent form required by the Ethics Committee. At the beginning of each focus group, participants were additionally informed about the confidentiality of any information disclosed during the meeting and were asked to avoid the use of identifying characteristics when describing their experiences. They were also informed that only the lead investigator, who conducted all focus groups, and other members of his research team would handle potentially identifying data, and that data would be anonymized for analysis. For the trial involving a survey, the first page of the survey contained information about the trial and the statement that they agree to participate in the study by continuing to answer the survey questions. Medical students were invited for participation outside of and unrelated to their courses to avoid possible coercion.
