Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study was approved by the Cincinnati Children’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) (2016-0520). The IRB approved a waiver of consent because the patients with SLE had already consented for use of longitudinal serum and urine samples through an ongoing SLE Clinical and Research Database study with current IRB approval (2008-0635), and therefore separate consent was not obtained for this study. No individual patient data were used in this study.
