Ethics approval and consent to participate
: MPCs were derived from debrided muscle waste during surgery on blast-traumatized individuals, with patient consent, at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, according to an IRB-approved protocol (06-24046(2)), and used in this study with approved inter-institutional Material Transfer Agreement and according to an IRB approved, exempted protocol (PRO10090075). Although IACUC approval is not required for the use of avian embryos, research with DRGs from avian embryos was performed in a manner that minimizes the suffering or discomfort of the avian embryo.
