: All animal experiments were performed in the Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) at UConn Health in compliance with the standards and policies of Public Health, Animal Welfare Act PL 89-544 (1966) and subsequent amendments and the documents entitled “Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” (National Academy of Sciences, 2011) and “Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” (Health Research Extension Act of 1985, Public Law 99-158, revised 2015).
