: Animal experimentation work was conducted in accordance with the Finnish legislation (Law pertaining to the protection of animals for scientific or educational purposes 497/2013, Statute pertaining to the protection of animals for scientific or educational purposes 564/2013), which is in accordance with the European Union legislation. Appropriate licences for the routine veterinary procedures of the experimental herd are in place. Preparation of cell cultures for in vitro pathogen challenges required only collection of milk by standard milking methodology.
