: The present study conformed to the principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki and was performed with the approval of the institutional ethical committee of Sapporo Medical University (Number: 302-3681). Informed consent requirement was waived because of the life-threatening situation and the absence of any therapeutic alternative. Information was delivered to the patient’s relatives after inclusion, as appropriate in a life-threatening context.
