: Approval to select <i>S. aureus</i> isolates from the UMCG collection of bacteremia isolates was obtained from the Medical Ethics Review Board of the UMCG (METc number 2018/396, UMCG RR number 201800460). Blood donations from healthy volunteers were collected with approval from the Medical Ethics Review Board of the UMCG (METc number 2016/621) after written informed consent.
