Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The project was submitted to the ethics committee and approved, with CAAE: 21824513.9.0000.5091. Children younger than 2 years were excluded according to the study protocol. All participants signed a consent form before enrolment. Individuals diagnosed as having schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminth infections were treated in accordance with the Brazilian Ministry of Health guidelines.
