: Brain tissue from AD patients and non-demented individuals were used in this study. Tissues were obtained from the National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI, Philadelphia, PA) in a de-identified manner. Research on human samples was performed following The Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association (Declaration of Helsinki). Informed consent was obtained for human subjects’ experimentation. Brain tissues were manipulated following the universal precautions for working with human samples and as directed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Biosafety Office of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. All animal manipulations were in agreement with NIH guidelines and approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
