: The study protocol was approved by the institutional ethics committee of CERMEL, Lambaréné, Gabon (Reference number: CEI-CERMEL 009/2014). In the inclusion process, volunteers were approached by trained field staff who explained the purpose and objectives of the main study in a clear and comprehensible manner. The study's potential risks and benefits were also communicated to the volunteers during the explanation. Participation in the study was entirely voluntary, and individuals were given sufficient time to consider their decision. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal guardians if they were minors. For illiterate participants, the consent form was read aloud, and a thumbprint was obtained to indicate their agreement to participate. For the present analysis, no additional intervention was made. The study was conducted in line with the Good Clinical Practice principles of the International Conference on Harmonization [CitationRef removed] and the Declaration of Helsinki [CitationRef removed].
