: The study protocol was reviewed by the King’s College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Research and Innovation Department and deemed a service improvement project (subsequently approved by the Critical Care Department). Research ethics committee approval was waived. All echocardiograms were performed as part of routine patient care. All echocardiograms were fully anonymised (‘deidentified to the point of publication’), other than participants were aware of patent’s sex, age and a brief indication for performing the echocardiogram.
