: The studies reported in this article were not formally preregistered. All data and permitted experimental stimuli have been made available on the Open Science Framework (). The available stimuli do not include the emotional images from Experiments and or all images from Experiment , which were IAPS images and cannot be publicly shared. However, the numerical image names, as well as valence and arousal ratings, from the IAPS database are available for reference. Experimental code can be shared upon requests sent via email to the corresponding author. Note that the images used in the figures throughout this article were gathered from sources that do not require permission for commercial use—the fruit images were obtained via and all other images in the figures were personally photographed by the first author.
