: Deeper understanding of neurofunctional correlates of attention regulation and orienting towards interoceptive—besides exteroceptive—signals is strategic in the quest for valuable markers to complement screening and assessment of such crucial function. Via EEG source localization, we describe the electrophysiological signature of cognitive processes leading to aware coding of interoceptive signals, highlighting the primary frequency-specific role of cingulate, parahippocampal, and insular cortices in shaping interoceptive attentiveness and accuracy of related inferences.
