: All animal studies were conducted according to the relevant national and international laws and guidelines, including the German Animal Protection Law, the European Union Directive 2010/63/EU on the Protection of Animals used for Scientific Purposes, and the Society for Neuroscience Policies on the Use of Animals and Humans in Neuroscience Research. All animal procedures conducted with rhesus macaques at the German Primate Center have been approved by the responsible regional government office (Niedersächsisches Landesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit, LAVES, in Oldenburg) under permit number 33.19–42502 - 04–18/2823. Following this study, the monkeys remained in the laboratory to be enrolled in different experiments. Animal studies conducted with mice were approved by the responsible regional government office (LAGeSo, Berlin) under permit number G0182/17. The experiments (questionnaire and preference test) with humans were conducted using an online tool. All participants understood that their participation was voluntary, confidential, and anonymous. There were no technical means, nor were there any intentions, to assign saved data to individual participants. All participants in the human study agreed to the anonymous use of their data for publication. At the time and place of data collection for the human study, specific approval by an ethics board was neither mandatory nor common practice.
